Why Brick Supports the Poppy Appeal

Brick technology Limited was helped by the Royal British Legion. They have a business startup scheme.

If you served in the UK Armed Forces and you're thinking of starting a small business in the UK,The British Legion's Be the Boss scheme can help you get it off the ground.

How they help

In conjunction with partners they can give you:

  • training in setting up a small business;
  • help with writing your business plan;
  • help with financial planning;
  • funding to help you launch and expand the business; and
  • business 'health checks' and mentoring.

Funding

If you're just starting up you can apply for funding of up to £7,500, and if you get start-up funding you can also apply for funding to grow the business once you've been trading successfully for six months.

If you've already got a business and you've been trading for more than 12 months and less than 24 months you can apply for funding of up to £30,000.

Funds are a mixture of grants and loans and go up to a maximum of £30,000 per person.

If your business gets funding you will also be offered business mentoring and regular health checks. This will help you to identify and resolve problems and manage revenue and debt effectively.

We at Brick are all wearing our poppies with pride. Here are some personal pictures of who I will be thinking of tomorrow.

My Grandad, who fought in the 1st World War and was with the British expeditionary forces evacuated from Dunkirk in the 2nd World War.

My Dad, Who heard Churchill on the radio announcing the start of the 2nd World War and jumped out of bed and joined the RAF.

Me, Served in Berlin and Singapore and now my Stepson Daniel is continuing the tradition and has just returned from Italy (Libya Tour).

So please wear your poppy with pride, The British Legion is still helping today and without their support Brick technology probably wouldn't have been in business for 16 years!
