The Olympic Torch Ceremony
Brick technology web design, received a letter from Blackburn with Darwen Council which concerned the Olympic Torch and its arrival in Blackburn on 23rd June 2012. We wanted to notify everyone who didn’t know about it so that they could see this once in a lifetime event should they wish.
Organisers of the event are hoping that residents, businesses, community groups as well as the general public will show their support by lining up along the route in order to show their support for the Olympic torch bearers who will all be inspiring people from the Northwest who have contributed to their community in some way.
In addition to this many businesses will be decorating their premises in order to show their support for this fantastic event. When the torch arrives in Blackburn it will be on its 36th day of its travels around the country.
On this day of its journey the torch will travel from Lytham and then through Preston. When it leaves Preston it will then arrive in Blackburn before heading off to Accrington, Burnley, Rossendale, Rochdale and Manchester.
The route will be as follows for anybody who would like to witness the torch bearers carrying the torch around the country:
- Preston New Road, From the Revidge Junction at 9.12am
- Montague St onto Barbara Castle Way
- Bottom of Preston New Road/King William Street
- Northgate – Pedestrian area and road
- Town Hall St, past the library at 9.30am
- Town Hall Square for an activity showcase by local groups
The convoy will pause here before carrying on its journey:
- Exchange St to Victoria St at 9.52am
- Barbara Castle Way to Eanam
- Copy Nook, Bottomgate to Accrington Road
- Finishing just after Accrington Road Community Centre at 10.11am
