Getting to Know (and Love!) Google Analytics - The Brickweb April Workshop

As the most popular web statistics service in the world, Google Analytics is an incredibly important tool that can dramatically enhance a website's performance in terms of visitor numbers, retention levels and an increased number of conversions. Sadly, many website owners do not take full advantage of the myriad of opportunities created by Google Analytics and the latest Brickweb workshop is designed to rectify this situation.

The development of Google Analytics can be traced back to April 2005 when Google made the acquisition of the Urchin Software Corporation, a company that had a large part in the creation of web statistics systems. Google incorporated other ideas into the service and, upon its release in November 2005, anyone who wished to access the service could do so. Just one week later, however, demand had risen to such a point that new sign-ups had to be suspended until more capacity was created. By the middle of August 2006, the service was once again fully accessible to all, regardless of whether or not they used Google's advertising services.

The newest version of Google Analytics was launched in April 2011 and uses a unique tracking code which, highly-sensitive and -accurate, allows even the shortest of activities carried out by site visitors to be tracked in full detail. By generating incredibly detailed statistics about website traffic and its sources, Google Analytics allows a site owner to understand how their visitors behave, which strategies are working well and what effect campaigns and promotions, for example, are having. The service, which includes custom reports, goal flow charts and realtime analytics, is presented via a dynamic, user-friendly dashboard interface which is able to show a multitude of website statistics from the geographical location of visitors to full e-commerce website reporting.

Google Analytics is currently used by 55% of the top 10,000 most-popular websites. When the number of popular sites included in the study is dramatically raised to one million, this percentage is still a massive 50% of the total.

Our workshop is entitled 'Getting to Know (and Love!) Google Analytics' and will teach attendees, in a clear and comprehensive manner, how to use the service to its optimal level. Each attendee will also receive a full Google Analytics implementation absolutely free.
